International Exchange Programme
The college is involved in student-teacher exchange programmes with schools ( called 'gymnasiums' in Sweden ) Sodra Latins, Tullinge, Tumba and Bromma all from Stockholm, Sweden and Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.
Students and teachers from these countries visit Chowgule College for two weeks.
Besides enjoying the unique culture and experiencing the way of local life they get an opportunity to experience our system of education and participate in research activities.
Many programmes and visits to places of tourist and historical interests are organized to acquaint them with our culture and traditions.
Likewise, our students and teachers make a return visit to these institutions with a similar programme there.
Objectives
- Contributing to all round development of students through exchange of ideas and sharing of information on programs, services and activities. Providing opportunities for the students of two countries to get an insight into each others educational system, culture, traditions, and lifestyle. Cultivating sensitivity, appreciation and understanding of different ethnic groups.
Japan Exchange Programme
Student - Teacher Exchange Programme with Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan commenced from the academic year 2012-13. This initiative was taken by Chowgule College to create an environment where students get an opportunity to meet and understand new people, new lifestyles and new cultures. In the first leg of the programme, students from our College visit Waseda University and meet Japanese students  and work on various academic and co-curricular activities with them. The second leg of the programme involves the Japanese students visiting our College and getting acquainted with our culture and educational system.

Portugal Exchange Programme
Sweden Exchange Programme
This is an ongoing programme since 2008-09. Under this programme  Swedish students lived with the families of our students who were selected to participate in the programme. Likewise our students also lived in Sweden with the families of the students whom they hosted in Goa. Sometimes they stay in hotels at both places..
The students from the participating institutions attended specific programmes organized by the host institutions. They also attended classes of their subjects and got an idea about the educational system of each other.

2020-21
GLOBAL EXPOSURE
VIRTUAL INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES:
The Centre for Exchange Programme conducted the first virtual Google meet between students from Bromma gymnasium, Sweden and Chowgule students on 17thFebruary, 2021 during this academic year. 6 students participated in the meet. The purpose of the meet was to provide students a platform to understand distance education and adapt to learning in COVID19. The topic was 'Covid 19 and how distance education has worked while adapting to the new situation'. The Centre is in the process of conducting more virtual interactions during the semester.
A virtual exchange was conducted on 19thMay, 2021. Thirteen students from our college interacted with students from Stockholm School of Innovative Science. Students interacted on the topic of 'Exploring activities during vacation in India and Sweden'.
WEBINARS ON INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES:
Three webinars on "Overseas Education" were conducted by the college.
1. First webinar was conducted on 16th February, 2021 where Ms. Anupama Sharma from Maharay Consultancy spoke to students on Higher Education in UK and other Countries and the job prospects after completing the course.
2. Second webinar was conducted on 24th February, 2021. Mr. Shubhash Pol from Edwise Consultancy addressed the students on the topic 'Embrace Global Education on your Fingertips'. The speaker enlightened students about the current careers in demand and how learning in foreign universities is closely connected to industry requirements.
3. Third Webinar on "Overseas Education" was held on 3rdMarch 2021. The resource person was Mr. Priyansh Sharma, overseas education representative of 15 Universities in UK. Twenty students from Arts and Science stream attended the webinar.

Faculty Academic Exchange Programme
Ms. Madhavi M. Motankar Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology along with 09 students visited participated in the International Sweden Exchange Programme (Academic and Socio-cultural Exchange) at Tullinge Gymnasium and Bromma Gymnasium in Stockholm.

09 students along with 04 faculty of Tullinge Gymnasium and Bromma Gymnasium in Stockholm visited our college under the International Sweden Exchange Programme (Student and Faculty Cultural Exchange Programme) from 1st to 14th September 2019.
Transfer of Credits
In the academic year 2019- 20, three students from Chowgule College went to University of Porto as exchange students for two semesters. The students were namely Charmaine Pereira (TYBA), Amanda D'Costa (SYBA), Srushti Prabhudessai (SYBA). All three students completed their courses as exchange mobility students successfully and are eligible for transfer of credits for the respective academic year. On succesfull completion of their graduation at Chowgule College they can attain upto 40 transferable credits from University of Porto.

Student and Faculty Cultural Exchange Programme
- Mr. Ashok Dange and Mr. Aresh Naik along with 10 students went to Tullinge Gymnasium Stockholm, Sweden on an Academic and Cultural Exchange Programme from 9th September 2018 to 23rd September 2018.
- Ms. Sharmila Menezes and Mr. Ashok Dange along with 12 students went to Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan from 7th November to 22nd November 2018.

- Dr Nandkumar Sawant Principal, Associate Professor received 'Faculty Exchange Fellowship' under Erasmus Programme Sponsored by European Union, Universite De La Reunion on 12th November 2018.

- Initiated steps to set proposals for securing research Projects through funding from Directorate of higher education, conducted workshops to promote quality research with the aim of Setting up of Centre for South Asian studies.

- Dr. N. N. Sawant, under the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union visit the University of De La Reunion Saint Denis from 10th November 2018 to 9th December 2018 to delivered lectures for faculty and students at university and discussed further research collaborations.
- Dr. Nandkumar Sawant, Principal along with Mr.Rahul Pillai, Co-ordinator, Center for South Asian Studies visit to Univeristy of Maurtius to deliberate on developing collaborations with our college in the area of research and faculty exchange. - Two delegates from Kansai University, Prof. Eiichi Yamamoto, Director of the Center for International Education and Prof. Manabu Takeichi, Deputy Manager, Division of International Affairs, from Kansai University visited institution on 1st March 2019 to discuss about student mobility programmes, Research collaborations and future association between the two Institutions.
- The Consulate General of Portugal, Dr. Antonio Crystello Tavares attended the conference on a portuguese writer, Eca de Queiroz by Professor Dr. Maria do Rosario Amaral, from the University of Braga, Portugal in the month of February 2019.
- Prof. Eiichi Yamamoto, Director of the Center for International Education and Prof. Manabu Takeichi, Deputy Manager, Division of International Affairs from Kansai University, visited our college to strengthen collaborations and provide opportunities to exchange students to improve their English skills on 1st March, 2019.

Student and Faculty Cultural Exchange Programme
- 18 students and 3 faculty member of the college, Mr. Kumaresh Pillai, Ms. Liesl Silva and Ms. Sharmila Menezes visited Tullinge and Bromma Gymnasium, Stockholm, Sweden from 9th September to 22nd September, 2017.
Faculty Academic Exchange Programme
- Professor Gilda Machado from Portugal is providing her services to this college and is in-charge of the department of Portuguese and conducted the Portuguese Language Course for 78 students for the full academic year.
- Prof. Jose Manuel Peres Jorge, University of Porto, Portugal visited the Department of Economics, from 7th to 19th August, 2017. He addressed the students of Economics on exchange rate systems and international banking and exchange rate and international resource management.
- Prof. Paula Guerra from University of Porto, Portugal visited the Dept. of Sociology, from 30th January to 12th February, 2018. She took up lectures on Sociology of Religion and Introduction to Schools of Sociological Theory for the sociology students. Prof. Guerra also conducted a workshop on Introduction to Qualitative Research for students and members of faculty of the college.
- Professor Christopher Gallager from International Christian University, Japan taught a course: Academic Writing for the academic year 2017-18. He also conducted few workshops and was the resource person for the National Conference
- A workshop on 'Conflict Mediation' by Ms. Ana Martins, (Psychologist) was conducted for faculties to learn and validate specific skills, such as cooperative negotiation, assertiveness, communication, active listening, creativity and problem solving, which are important tools that can promote the improvement of interpersonal relationships and pedagogical methods. Similarly, Dr Patrick Mc Namara conducted a workshop on Art of Meditating.
- Faculty from the University of Porto, Portugal delivered a series of lectures in Economics and Sociology subject from 7th to 19th August 2017 and 30th January to 12th February 2018 respectively.
Student Academic Exchange Programme
- Ms. Aarati Joshi, SYBA (English/French Major) complete done-year course in advanced Japanese language during academic year 2017-18 at Waseda University, Japan under the academic exchange programme. She was awarded JASSO scholarship to complete her course over the year.
- The research component of the programme included two projects carried out by our students and members of faculty in collaboration with Tullinge gymnasium (Stockholm, Sweden). A brief account of the projects is provided below:
A preliminary comparative analysis of soil microbes in Goa and Sweden
The project was aimed at conducting a preliminary microbial analysis of soil samples from Sweden and Goa and to compare the microbial colonies formed along specific parameters. It was interesting to note that while the microbial colonies from soil samples in both countries displayed similarities in size, texture and pigmentation, there were differences in the type of margin and in the optical property, indicating that the species found in these regions vary from each other. Further characterization tests would reveal information with respect to Gram character, biochemical nature, motility and other characteristics of the soil microbes.
- Ms. Charmaine Pereira, SYBA (English Major) pursued her study at Kansai University, Japan for two semesters for the year 2018 - 2019 under the Student Academic exchange programme.
- Dr. Nandkumar Sawant guided and mentored Ms. Kata Muranyi, a Research Scholar from Institute of Geography, University of Pecs, Hungary for her Short Study on 'Creative Economy of the Portuguese Speaking Countries and Territories, Ex-colonies', 31st December 2017 to 16th January 2018. Ms. Kata Muranyi also conducted a workshop on 'Mapping of Urban Neighbourhoods' for students of MA Geography on 12th January 2018.
- Dr. Nandkumar Sawant provided guidance to Ms. Klara Nordstrom, a Graduate Student from University of Stockholm, Sweden, for her Research Project on Tourism and Women Empowerment, 16th January to 16th March 2018.
MOUs with International institutes
- An MoU has been signed between University of Porto, Portugal and our College for cultural exchanges between both institutions for a period of five years. An addendum was also signed at the same time for academic exchanges during this period.

- Mr. Yaakov Finkelstein, Consulate General of Israel visited our college to discuss further Academic and Research collaborations on 29th November, 2017.
- Dr. Thomas Bruckdorfer, Chief Scientific Officer and Vice PresidentBusinessDevelopment, Iris Biotech GmbH, Germany visited our college for presentation and interaction with Post Graduate Chemistry department.
- Prof. Patrick McNamara, Director of International Studies and Programme, University of Nebrasaka, Omaha, along with 35 delegates consisting of intellectuals and researchers from University of Kabul; University of Nebraska and University of Balkh visited our college on 2nd January, 2018 to conducted a workshop on "Conflict Mediation" for the staff.
- 18 students and five faculty from Tullinge and Bromma Gymnasiums, visited our College from 25th November to 8th December, 2017.Swedish students stayed with families of our students to experience Indian social life. The programme schedule included sessions on yoga, interactive lectures on Goan Heritage, Industries in Goa, Livelihood strategies of Tribals in Goa, 'Ethnic Medicines, Goan Cuisine and Indian Classical Dance/Music'. Students were taken on field visits to orphanage, old age home, and other institutes and houses that court Goas cultural heritage.

- Dr. Nandkumar N Sawant and Shri. S.S. Adsul (Department of Marathi) attended the International Scientific workshop on Urbanization and Regional Development in Russia and Europe on 19th and 20th April, 2018 at RUDN University (Peoples Friendship University of Russia), Moscow, Russia. They jointly presented a paper on Goas Urban Landscape: does it retain Luso phone Identity?
- Dr. Nandkumar Sawant received a grant by ICSSR, New Delhi, for a visit to Thailand from 14th â 27th March 2018, to carry out his Research Project on 'Effects of International Tourism Related Activities on the Social and Economic Life of the Adjoining Rural Hinterlands': A Comparative Study of Goa (India) and Chonburi (Thailand) in the Globalized Era under the ICSSR-NRCT Bilateral Programme.

- 17 students accompanied by three faculty of Department of Geography, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, visited our college from 15th to 19th March 2017. The two institutes jointly organized an Indo-Sri Lanka Students Seminar on Changing Geographies of Cultural Landscape (India and Sri Lanka) on 18th March 2017, wherein, students from both institutes presented papers.

Kenta Goto, Ph.D, Dean and Professor, Yukihisa Kumagai, Associate Professor, faculties of Economics from Kansai University, Japan visited and interacted with the faculties of the Department of Economics on 31st October, 2016. The purpose was to explore possibility of tie-up and Faculty-Student exchange programme of the institutions.
