About Programme
The BA Program in English is driven by its objective to create awareness amongst its students. The syllabi has been specially designed to emphasize literature courses, skill-based courses, and contemporary literary courses. The programme offers career related courses like Literary criticism, Linguistics and in the field of Media through courses like - Understanding Poetry and Drama, Understanding Fiction, 19th Century English literature, 20th Century English Literature, Introduction to Linguistics and Stylistics, Indian Diaspora, A World Literature, Womens Writing, Latin American Literature, English Language Teaching, World Literature, Representation of Gender and sexuality. The Department also offers elective courses in Creative Writing, writing for the Media, An Introduction to Mass Media and Film Studies. The program is designed to give first-hand experience in critically analysing a literary works as well as help students imbibe skills to develop creative and quality work in imaginative writing, audio visual or other electronic media and be eloquent speakers.

Eligibility
Students who have completed their HSSC in any stream, well-versed in English language, have a passion for language and literature, are technologically savvy and who are inclined towards creativity are eligible to take this course.
Students have to have 60% or above overall (and in the discipline of English) to apply to the B.A. English programme. All students have to go through individual counselling before being admitted to the course.
